Moalboal to Siquijor travel route
Briefing
This is a big, but well worthwhile travel day for a 2+ days on Siquijor.
You’ll spend a lot of the day waiting in ports, and negotiating with tricycle drivers, so be mentally prepared!
If you want an efficient trip, I’d strongly suggest paying a visit to a Filipino bakery for some delicious, cheap snacks the night before for the day ahead so you don’t have to detour to a shop en route (the only place with options is Dumaguete).
Step 1
Trike from Pangsama Road, Moalboal (tourist hub) to the Moalboal Bus Stop
Cost: ₱150-300 (£2-4) | Time: 10 minutes
Pro tip: Set off very early! A 6.30AM departure got to Siquijor at around 4pm
Step 2
Taxi from Moalboal Bus Stop to Liloan Port
₱1,000-1,500 (£15-20) | Time: 1.5-2 hours
Pro tip: Share a taxi with fellow travellers waiting for the bus (which may not turn up) for a shared fare. Expect to barter and introduce yourselves to a taxi driver as a group (they wait at the bus stop)
Alternatives: you can take a combination of a bus + trike, but schedules are pretty unreliable! Cost ₱300-450 (£4-6) | Time: 2.5-3.5 hours
Step 3
Ferry from Liloan Port to Sibulan Port
Cost ₱150 (£2) | Time: 30 minutes
Pro tip: Ferries run every hour, try to time your arrival well! Expect to pay a ₱70 (£1) “Port tax”
Step 4
Tricycle from Sibulan Port to Dumaguete
Cost ₱150-400 (£2-6) | Time: 10 minutes
Pro tip: Walk out the main entrance of the port to get a trike (the longer you walk out the cheaper it gets)
Step 5
Ferry from Dumaguete to Siquijor (Departs every 1-1.5 hours)
Cost ₱300 (£4) | Time: 45 minutes
Pro tip: Queue up to buy a ticket where the locals are queuing up!
Step 6
Tricyle from Siquijor Port to your destination on Siquijor!
Cost ₱150-300 (£2-4) | Time: 15 minutes
Pro tip: Book in advance through your accommodation (Homestays are excellent for this)
